Day 14 (5-24-09) Running in Rome

Today was a day of recoup and recovery. And because of this, I didn’t take any photos today so the one pictured above has no relevance to today other than it is an interesting photo. I started off today by getting twelve hours of sleep. Yes listen to me correctly, twelve hours of sleep. It felt so good to finally catch up on all of the sleep I have been missing. One I got up I fixed myself some breakfast from what food was left laying around in the fridge. After that I went down Via Corso one more time to finish up any last minute shopping I could think of. Once I got back I laid back for a little while and edited more photos, to the point where I almost caught up. Then around four in the afternoon I went for a run in Villa Borghese. It felt great to get out and go for a run again. I did around four miles of running and I enjoyed every bit of it because it felt so relaxing. All of the stress and drama that have been building over the last few weeks just vanished for that half hour while I was running. I strongly suggest that anyone that enjoys running goes for a run in while in Rome because it was a once in a life time experience. I hope to do it again sometime during our last week while in Rome. After I got back from my run I took a shower to clean up and cool off and then I headed out to dinner with a group of friends. We ended up eating out at a small restaurant that was next to the Spanish Steps. The food was okay but once again not great. After dinner we went and waited on the Spanish Steps for a few more people to catch up. We all were gathering because we decided to go and watch the movie “Angels and Demons”. The movie was a spectacular movie. It was a great movie to see while in Rome because it was shot in Rome. It is funny because all throughout the movie you could hear people in our group saying “oh I’ve been there” and “look that’s close to our hotel”. I thought that it was not only a great movie for this reason but that it was a well rounded movie overall. After we finished the movie we walked back to the hotel and I once again passed out.
