Day 8 (5-18-09) Gonfalone and US Embassy

Today was an okay day. We started off early in the morning again with another art history lesson. It was funnier this time because in order to get there we had to take the public bus and when you pack the morning rush hour people onto a small bus with thirty Clarkson students it get kind of packed; and when things get packed things tend to get funny. It was a great ride with a lot of laughs. After we arrived at the first church we then visited two more. Once again it was great to have Paul there explain all of the buildings and artwork to us but he was once again a bit long winded today. I realized during one of my daydreaming moments that I truly love how he talks about this history but I DO NOT LIKE HISTORY. I guess this is why I’m an ISBP major and not a history major.  After this I ran and picked up my suit and then ran back to the hotel for our two o’clock meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. This visit to the U.S. Embassy was neat. Once we got through security we were ushered into a room and we got to talk to a few of the Embassy representatives for an hour. It was somewhat disappointing though because I was expecting to get a tour of the Embassy which we did not. For dinner a group of us got together and made some pasta with marinara sauce. It was a great change up from the norm because it was not only cheaper but we got to eat our HUGE American portions again. Overall today was a day in which I felt exhausted because we had to do so much and because we had such a long and busy weekend. I’m looking forward to a good night’s rest and a shorter day tomorrow. Now I’m going to finish up editing some photos and making some phone calls and then I’m going to head to bed early again!
